Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia and is a medical condition in which an individual is unusually scared of social situations. The anxiety and severe self consciousness come from dread of the close observation, judgement, and criticism of others. Anyone with this type of disorder is scared that he or she will do something to humiliate themselves around other people. Inadequate social skills or not being accustomed to various social settings can make things worse.

Why Do We Have Dreams?

If you try to find out the word DREAMS in dictionary or encyclopedia, you will probably get a description as “Dreams are images, sounds, feelings and thoughts that appear in our mind during sleep, which to most of the extent are involuntary and non-controllable in nature”. We have to admit that dreams are personal and specific to everyone and that and no one explanation can fit into everyone’s Dreams.

The Fear Of Strangers, Xenophobia

Xenophobia is the scientific name for an illness a person has when they have a fear of strangers or of anybody who is different to themselves. These differences can be big or small, real or imagined. The structure of the word is important, with xeno meaning stranger or guest and phobia meaning a fear.

I have created many self-help audios and one of the things that struck me was how the sound through headphones was perceived by those with a dominant left-hearing ear. Curative audios sometimes have more of an impact when certain pitches are used to carry the message to the user through earphones. I was pleased that a psychology don did some in-depth research into this, and the findings proved what I have been claiming for some time was true … that people with a dominant left hand are likely to have a dominant left ear!

Overcoming Your Fear Of Taking Tests

The fear of taking tests is called testophobia. Most everyone experiences some level of anxiety when it comes to taking tests – this is natural. However, if the fear is extreme, something must be done. The following article will discuss some tips and advice when it comes to overcoming testophobia.

In 1977, while sitting in a large lecture hall at the University of Illinois I had my first panic attack. I remember just sitting there in the middle of the lecture and all of a sudden this fear came on me out of no where. I did not have a thought, I was not taking a test, it was not a stressful situation. I was just listening to the lecture and I had to run out. I was in panic. I did not understand what was happening. After a week of such incidences I decided it was time to see a psychologist. That is when I started to write my dreams down and the beginning of my journey to understand who I am, how my dreams work started. I have been interpreting dreams ever since.

Mental Effects Of Stress

Effects of stress are not limited to our bodies. Perhaps our minds suffer even more as they change themselves from solution finders into sources of stressful thoughts. Yes, one of common causes of stress is the so-called mental stress coming from lack of ability to focus, short concentration period and feeling of weakness and lack of will to do anything.

We live in a stressful world these days, and so it’s hardly a surprise that so many people suffer from acute forms of anxiety. In fact, a significant amount of people need to find ways of overcoming panic attacks on a daily basis. I also used to suffer from attacks of anxiety, so I know what a real and debilitating problem they are. To stop my panic attacks, I sought a solution myself, and that was to take control of my thoughts and mind again, and not to rely on prescription drugs, which can only ever really be a short term measure.

Self esteem is a precarious factor that we possess simply because we are human. We are obsessed by the first impression we make on people and how they perceive us in return, and for all of us—from the time we were infants to the present—-we are constantly reinforcing the self esteem we have by how others react to us. Even the way our parents treat us, or tell us how they feel about us, either reinforces these feelings in our inner core of whether we are worth something or not.
