Girls:How has having hidradentitis suppurativa affected your sex life are they negative or positive?

Hi I’m 17 and I might have the skin disease hidradentitis suppurativa, ever since I was 13 I’ve been experiencing all the symptoms of this disease and only up until a few months ago I discovered what had been the cause of my symptoms which is hidradentitis suppurativa, even though I haven’t been to a dermatologist yet I know that this is what I have most definitely theres no question about it. All this time I kept going to my doctor and they kept saying I possibly had a bacterial infection under my skin or that it was acne and that it would go away and the tests/cultures didn’t reveal anything wrong so they said there was nothing wrong. So one day when I was looking through a newspaper I saw an ad for a study on HS and it listed all these symptoms and every single one listed matched mine to a tee so I told my mom and I am scheduled to go to the doctor soon so I can see a dermatologist and get treatment.

So thats my background info, regarding my question I want to know if your sex life has been affected negatively or positively or not at all because of having hidradentitis suppurativa. Even though I am young and probably shouldn’t be worrying about this until later on I am waiting to have sex until I’m married but I’m afraid that my future husband won’t want to be intimate with me when I get breakouts or he sees the affects that HS has had on my skin in my private areas, inner thighs or between my breasts.

Its just so embarrasing when I think about it because I just want to be normal and not have anyone think I’m unclean or disgusting because I’m really not at all. This is a real personal issue and its hard to talk about even with my mom or my doctor I feel a little vulnerable because I have to show my doctor places where I have breakouts and I’m very self concious.

Also, do you have any suggestions on how I can deal with HS during my breakouts for now since I haven’t been to the dermatologist yet.

Please give honest and kind answers.
